Art 1, Computers 0

I haz art

I haz art

The picture above was drawn with my new Wacom graphics pad and Sketchbook something software.  I was unable to download my photoshop.  It went halfway and said “heck with it.”  I’m not sure why.  I’m waiting on a computer guy.

I am always waiting on computers guys, because I am not a computer girl.  I do art.  The above art is not my best, but this came from not looking at any of the how-tos that I can supposedly find from downloaded software.  I’m assuming I can get better should I find this.  I don’t know.

I could take a computer class, but by the time I finished, I would be out of date all over again.  But we can’t be talented in everything, so I guess I’ll keep my artsy fartsy.  I hope to be able to do more blog art rather than relying on shamelessly stealing from google images like I usually do.  We’ll see.

Anyway, clearly I don’t have much to say, just a drawing.  So you know, there it is.  Oh, and um, here’s Squirrel.

Yo, 'sup?

  1. Your best or no, that drawing is amazing! I can’t even draw a convincing stick person with any of the sketchy-paint-thingy programs!

    1. Thanks. I wish I knew what the heck I was doing. I barely got it installed on one computer, and then the programs . . . overwhelming. I’ve worked with photoshop for years at work and still don’t get the first thing . . . ughhhh.

      1. I used to use photoshop years ago (like 14 or 15 haha) I never learned to use even 50% of what it could do then, I can’t imagine what else it can do now. For not knowing what you were doing with this new one yet I’d say you did excellent!

        1. Thanks. I think photoshop is needlessly complex. We had this Asian student who could freaking do anything with it. I’m just sitting there going “wtf is a layer?”

I do like the Sketchbook program. I just need to figure out how to say, get different colors. For instance, she’s a blond because no brown. Hmm.

          1. I had a friend who was like your Asian student. He could do things with paintshop that were amazing. He used to mock my inability to figure out layers. I STILL don’t know what a layer is or does and I stopped caring lol

I’m trying to remember what one it is we loaded for my daughter, it’s Sketch-something, she can’t figure it out and I’m still working on it. Why would they hide the colors on you? That’s just rude!

  2. hahaha I spit out a hearty laugh at the squirrel… I am easily distracted and one of my favorite quotes to explain my condition is from the movie, “UP”.

    Was that your reference?

    1. That’s where Squirrel originally came from, and he morphed from there, yes.

  3. I need new photo software, too, but I don’t want to pay for Photoshop. I’ll go for something cheaper. But it seems the more technology I have, the less time I have. Takes so much time to figure out how things work…

    1. I’m not sure if you can ever, EVER learn Photoshop. I just don’t get it. Why not make it simpler and then you can take a few hundred dollars off the price tag. I just want to make my photos and drawings look decent, mmkay?

      1. I’m going to get the PaintShop Pro X5 Ultimate. Much cheaper than Photoshop. Just haven’t had the time to buy it and learn it yet.

        1. If it’s easier, let me know! maybe i can get it for work too.

  4. Love your drawing of a squirrel…haha

    1. He’s very realistic, yes?

  5. I have to say, your picture is more professional and less stick-like than my Wacom efforts 🙂
Hope you have fun with it!

    1. Thank you. It’s not as clean as I would like, esp when making cartoons . . . maybe I should find some instructions so I can actual have the color brown. Nah.

      1. I know what you mean – I messed about for ages trying to get at least a “brown-like colour” when I was drawing trees 🙂

        1. I love your brown-like color trees. Also your teeny knights.

  6. I wish I could draw like that. I haz envy.

    1. Thanks. I find I haz blogger envy myself.

  7. Beautiful self portrait.

  8. You are very talented, Alice. I’m jealous.

    1. I thank you – I am jealous of your wonderous photoshop ability to make stormtrooper flip people off.

      1. I have no doubt you can do it. Especially if I can…

  9. Woot! You got a graphics pad! Can’t wait to see more of your drawings 🙂
I am always waiting on computers guys too. Mostly because I just like computers guys.

    1. I hope to have more as well. Sometimes, though, it takes a while what with not knowing what I’m doing with the pad so I go steal more pics . . . the free downloadable software did not come with actual instructions. Saying I would read them. What program did you use again? Corel?

  10. YAY!!!! We need more bloggers who can work their own art into posts! That drawing is a billion times better than anything I can do. I totally suck at shading and trying to do anything impressionistic….

Now I’ll have some good art to steal for the next Sparky contest!!!! 😉

    1. Would love to see another award, although it’d be tough to beat the King Limpy one.

  11. Beautiful! But I do have to say there is NOTHING wrong with stealing from google images. 😉

    1. Good thing. Been doing that for a while. I’ve heard people have gotten angry emails from peeps who were like, you didn’t credit my picture! I guess I’m not big enough for anyone to notice so far . . . but who can tell who originally had the picture? It’s the internetz!

  12. She’s lovely. I wish I could draw more than stick figures.

    1. There’s a lot of things I wish I could do. Like sing. Others wish I could sing also.

      1. Ya know it’s weird – I was in choir at school almost the whole way through and then did a semester of university choir as an undergrad. We did Handel’s “Messiah” at the opera house here. And then I got diagnosed and started taking meds and now I can’t carry a tune in a bucket with ergonomic handles. 😦

        1. Meds that ruin your singing voice? That sucks. I guess I wouldn’t know if mine was ruined, although I still say I carry a tune better than my husband or Thing One – good gravy.

          BTW, Meds can suck, huh?

          1. Holy flying squirrels on acid – YES!!! I take lithium and it’s been a total life saver, but it does nasty things sometimes. There are still days it’s a struggle to type because my fingers don’t seem to get the signals from my brain. And every now and then I don’t do so well with the spoon holding my pudding. That’s tragic.

  13. She used to draw the most awesome figures while doodling on her notes in high school, etc. She can churn out drawings while NOT EVEN PAYING ATTENTION TO WHAT SHE’S DRAWING that simply blow away my best efforts at art ever.

Which is why I’m in law school and not a fashion designer or architect.

    1. Aw, thank you, my oldest pal. With any luck, I can get you to sue people in exchange for nice paintings, yes? Hahah.

      1. I don’t think I’m going to be that kind of lawyer.

  14. You haz skillz! I’m with a lot of other people on this thread in that I can barely draw a stick figure.

    1. You can say a lot with sticks.

  15. I too am looking forward to seeing more of your work. I’m just knitting myself into a corner right now, it seems…

    1. I tried so hard to knit, but my brain doesn’t work that way. It’s like, what, yarn, knot, both hands at once, short circuit.

      1. It took me a while to learn and get a hang of how to do all the various stitches, and there are still things I’m learning how to do, but for me it’s a good form of relaxation. I cannot draw to save my life, however.
